Students who participated in springs sports were honored Wednesday, May 9th, during the Booster Club's Spring Sports Banquet.

The Class of 2007, fellow students, teachers, administation, parents, & friends celebrated the final school mass with Fr. Greg Barras on Thursday, May 10th. Seniors also presented flowers to loved ones and friends.

On Friday, May 4, 2007, Mercy Cross boys Track team won second place in the State 1A track meet in Pearl. The girls team finished third place in the state.

April 28th marked the final parent's association fundraiser for Mercy Cross. Delicious food, great entertainment, silent auction and hardworking parents made this evening a lasting memory.

Mercy Cross Key Club members attended the International Key Club Convention held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana April 13th through 15th. See the full article in 'News.'

Our Interact Club assisted the Edgewater Rotary Club in the Red Cross Blood Drive at Edgewater Mall on April 14th. They exceeded their goal of 42 pints; by the end of the day, 52 pints of blood were collected. The Interact Club teacher sponsor is Mrs. Mary Lawson.

Mrs. Lawson's Biology I students modeled various beak adaptations of birds as they traveled to different 'habitats' to determine how effective the adaptations are in obtaining various types of food.

Our Campus Ministry Team produced and starred in a modern-day version of The Passion of Jesus Christ. Mercy Cross student body and guests were humbled with their performance. At the conclusion of the play, students prayed the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary. A special thanks to Ms. Wilkinson and Mr. Creel.

Mrs. Lawson's Biology II students examine the external anatomy of the crawfish and grasshopper during their arthropod unit.

Mrs. Lawson's Biology I students view live protists, such as euglena and paramecia, under the microscope as they study the kingdom Protista.

Ms. Lawrence's art classes recently displayed their outdoor art projects. The students, faculty, and staff enjoyed looking at the projects located throughout the Mercy Cross campus.

The Mercy Cross Robotics Team competed in New Orleans at the Bayou Regional. Twenty members from Mercy Cross attended. We received the Judge's Award, UL Safety Award, Allison Striegel was 'Safety Star of the Day', and Chad Krivanec's Inventor program will advance to Nationals. Congratulations Team on a job well done!

Cross Country team members were honored Thursday, March 15th, during the weekly school mass at Nativity Cathedral. The team won two state championship titles; each team member and coach received a state championship ring for their accomplishment. Each team member also received a Certificate of Achievement from the City of Biloxi. Congratulations!!!

Our Crusader marching band represented our school in several Mardi Gras parades this year. They proudly participated in the annual Veterans Administration Mardi Gras parade.

Ms. Lawson's biology II class examined the anatomy of a clam, while her anatomy class performed The Harvard Step Test.

'The one and only' Mercy Cross fast-pitch softball season began February 23rd, 2007. This is the first time our Lady Crusaders have participated in this sport. Good Luck!!!

More than 60 parents, teachers, and administators from St. John and Mercy Cross High Schools gathered at MCHS Cafeteria for the first-ever joint Booster Club Meeting. A delicious meal was enjoyed by everyone, as MCHS Booster Club President Stephen Peresich and SJHS Booster Club President Mark Roybal initiated discussion of common issues about a future booster club at St Patrick High School.

35 Mercy Cross students attended the Junior Youth Assembly in Jackson from February 15-17. Students in 7th, 8th and 9th grades participated in issues of state importance. See the full article in 'News.'

7th graders in Mr. Creel's religion classes learned about the religious history of the carnival season and Mardi Gras. Students also reflected on their Lenten sacrifices.

Twenty of our students participated in the Model United Nations Conference held in Jackson and brought home many honors and memories. (Full news story in 'News.')

On Friday, February 2, 2007, the last day of Catholic Schools' Week, 11th graders from Mercy Cross High School and St. John High School participated in a joint retreat at the Diocese of Biloxi.

Mrs. Lawson's anatomy students tested their reaction time using playing cards in a recent nervous system lab.

Mrs. Lawson's anatomy students recently demonstrated a simple reflex arc by testing their patellar tendon reflexes.

Mrs. Lawson's Biology II classes analyze and compare amino acid sequences in different vertebrates while studying their unit on microevolution.

Students in physics classes have an annual assignment called 'Egg Drop'. Each student must design a way to protect a large raw egg from breaking within maximum dimensions of 6' x 6' x 6' when it is dropped no less than 30 ft. Principles of velocity, gravitational acceleration, trajectory, force, momentum, and Newton's Laws are all part of this project.

On December 7, 2006, Mercy Cross High School celebrated its annual Ring Mass. Juniors received their rings from a senior during a presentation ceremony included in the Mass.

Seniors from Mercy Cross sang Christmas carols and entertained at the annual Elks Club Christmas party. The party is thrown for exceptionally handicapped children, most of whom are from the South Mississippi Regional Center.

Students in Ms. Butler's classes traveled through space via a learning event held at Stennis Space Center. Students were part of four crisis management teams and used their technology, science knowledge and math skills during this learning event. See photos here. A full article appears in 'News.'

Nearly fifteen years ago, some of our students worked at the local Sicily's Pizza at Edgewater in Biloxi. The owner, Allan Massie, was impressed with their responsibility and dedication which he felt reflected on our school. He offered to sponsor our school with Mercy Cross Sicily's Nights as a fund-raiser. We started with one Mercy Cross night each semester. It has certainly become a great success with at least one Mercy Cross night each month. This activity is a wonderful example of fellowship as families within a school community.

Senior football players, band members,dance team members, and cheerleaders honored their parents at Friday's game against Natchez Cathedral.

Mercy Cross Girls swept the first three places and garnered the team title in the Division II Category (3A-1A Schools ). Mercy Cross runner Will Clingon was the overall winner in the Division II race and led his team to a third place finish at the same meet.

Mercy Cross Alumni claimed victory 35-7 over Notre Dame Alumni at the flag football game Sunday, October 15, at the MCPA Homecoming Picnic. What began as flag football turned into tackling as the Mercy Cross Alumni stomped their opponent. The MCPA Homecoming Picnic was a big success, with great food, a parade, and a fun treasure hunt. Thanks, MCPA!!!
